WOMAN2WOMAN RADIO: LIVE!

FUTURE FEMALE SOCIETY

Dates: Sat 14 Oct

Times: Venue open for drop-in 12:00-17:00
Performances at 12:30, 14:00, 15:30

Woman2Woman Radio is run by Future Female Society with migrant, refugee and asylum-seeking women. They have the opportunity to share their voices and stories, while the radio format nurtures a sense of freedom, both of expression and within the women themselves. It’s not just a project, it’s a family.

As part of the SPILL Community Takeover, Woman2Woman Radio were transplanted into the SPILL Hub bringing a celebratory afternoon of live conversation, poetry and readings, sharing stories of migration, identity and building community.

MORE ABOUT FUTURE FEMALE SOCIETY:

The women on the project come from across the globe. Afghanistan, Egypt, Iran, Namibia, Pakistan, Poland, Ukraine, Siberia; but for a myriad of reasons have found themselves living in Ipswich. We explore the resulting experiences of migration and identity and building community.

TO WITHER AND BLOOM

GUY CRY CLUB

Dates: Sun 15 Oct

Times: Running 12:00-17:00 - drop in throughout the afternoon

Guy Cry Club is a platform exploring masculinity and mental health through art. To Wither and Bloom was an afternoon of discussion and activity on the subject of floriography, the language of flowers and plants. Floriography has long been connected with myths, herbalism, culture and art, and now Guy Cry Club invites you to step into this world.

Founder and artist Ben Driver was in conversation with Michael Perry (Mr Plant Geek), uncovering how flowers have influenced the way they see the world, how flowers have spoken to them, and how they use flowers to speak. Music was provided by Girl Guide. Afterwards audiences could explore your own connection with flowers in a zine-making workshop.

MORE ABOUT CRY GUY CLUB:

With an approach focussed on creativity dialogues become expansive, inclusivity intuitively flourishes and a sense of community strengthens. Guy Cry Club continues to make this a reality through curating exhibitions, workshops and kind collaboration.
