Walking The Dawn
Zierle & Carter (Germany/UK)

National Theatre (Weston Terrace)
IN THIS TRIPTYCH ZIERLE & CARTER EXPLORE THE SPACE BETWEEN THE LAST EXHALE OF DEPARTURE AND THE FIRST INHALE OF LIFE
Each free performance will investigate the shapeshifting qualities and gifts of three different totems through an embodied investigation into the realm of the Swan, the Moth and the Horse. The Swan Song speaks of a collection of final deeds before taking flight to the icy heights of the crystal mountain of unconscious knowing and longing. In Touching Silence Zierle & Carter follow the fragile flutter of the nocturnal moth into a play of lunar light on shadow wings to meet death in perfect stillness. The passage is open. In Walking the Dawn the spirit of the horse acts as guide between the physical and unseen worlds, birthing new possibilities in the search for inner freedom.

Examining what it means to be human, through an embodied investigation their collaborative work acts as an invitation to venture into the spaces in-between the external and internal, permanent and transient, spoken and unheard, often exploring, disrupting, flipping and reversing society’s conventions and rituals.
