The Creation of the strobes – a Brainwave (EEG) interactive performance pays homage to ‘The Creation of the birds’ painted by Spanish surrealist artist Remedios Varo (exiled to Mexico in the 1940s). The audio is generative and all the sound samples are triggered and modulated by the artist’s realtime brainwaves, entrained using strobe lights at 8Hz Flicker and by drawing in 3D to further produce and maintain the creative state. Thus bringing it gradually to life, through a contemporary telematic ‘seance’.

Interactive Artist Luciana analyses and augments delicate brainwave signals (EEG) into amplified sensory installations. Her techniques involve entrainment through lucid dreaming, Stroboscopes and Neurofeedback and processes using technology to provide you with more information about what your brain is doing. She has appeared on TV and radio triggering 3D spatialised sounds via brainwaves. She is currently ‘Head of Augmented Consciousness’ for The Institute of Unnecessary Research in Brighton and Visiting Research Fellow in Sussex University in the department of Informatics.
