SPILL Thinker in Residence

Thu 01 Jan 1970

The SPILL Thinker-In-Residence is a new role for the 2009 festival. It supports an outstanding individual in taking the long view of the entire festival, in order to respond in ways that can spark public discussion and debate.

For SPILL 2009 Kira O’Reilly will be creating writings that will appear on this website, and opening up discursive spaces for audiences to talk about the work in SPILL in dialogue with people from other territories: for example architects, economists, scientists, philosophers or engineers. These ‘salons’ will be advertised here and are anticipated as being lunchtime events across the festival period.

Kira O’Reilly is an Anglo-Irish performance maker based in the UK. Since graduating from Cardiff School of Art in 1998 she has shown her work extensively in exhibitions and festivals worldwide. Kira was a commissioned artist in the first SPILL Festival in 2007.

SPILL: Overspill is a tailor-made critical writing programme, designed by Open Dialogues and produced in association with Pacitti Company. The programme is located at the heart of the SPILL Festival and explores the event of criticism in relation to performance.
