“WHERE DO YOU COME FROM?”
“I’M FROM TAIWAN”
“OH! THAT’S WHERE MY TOYS COME FROM.”

These conversations inspire this project, Island of Toys, to reflect ideology, alienation and texture of globalization and capitalization by toys; the native, playful object.

Through the journey of those toys, our childhoods date back to the encounter of desire, property, social status and happiness.

All in all, toys are us!

Howl is a UK-based Taiwanese artist. Based on his cultural background, his interests cross culture, mobility, humans and the surrounding they live in. His work spans on performance, object, text, video and photograph, which has been presented in Taiwan and the UK.
