OUR HISTORIES ARE WRITTEN ON OUR FLESH. VISUALLY STRIKING, ‘LIVING SCULPTURES’ THAT UNMASK THE MARKED HUMAN BODY THROUGH AUTOBIOGRAPHY AND ORGANIC MATERIALS.
Is individual experience sacred or is subjective experience universal?
Body-altering weight loss and plastic surgery, decaying flesh of peeling parents, and religious self-mutilation from the American heartland. Visceral true stories that explore the human body as both medium and canvas through narrative, sculpture and movement. Our stories enable us to differentiate ‘self’ from ‘other’. What, then, is the effect of separating the body from its stories?
Every body carries its stories. Every body is stigmatised.
Manon Santi and Louis King are interdisciplinary performance makers from Southern France and Middle America, respectively. Together, they have been creating genre-clashing performance across Europe. They work frequently with an incredible team of international collaborators, without whom this work would not be possible.
